Coming from a farming family in Perthshire Sue worked in a large Edinburgh private practice as a Landscape Architect for 20 years prior to conceiving Damhead Nursery in 2005. A closet gardener at heart - drove the wish to create Damhead Nursery spurred on by a lifelong passion for plants and growing things, particularly varieties that thrive here in our wonderful Scottish climate. A vision to promote Native varieties and locally grown stock has led the Nursery in 2024 to expand to create space for our home grown growing stock on site.

In 2023 the Nursery diversified to include ‘Edinburgh cut flowers’ allowing Sue to indulge in a particular passion for growing cut flowers for bouquets and vases. 2023 also saw the start of a series of workshops on the Nursery with Sue promoting classes particularly for all with Assisted Support Needs – proving very popular getting the message out there- ‘Plants and spending time around plants is good for the soul!’
